Finally took some time off from work. Since my sister lives in Charleston we go there because we can get free lodging and Wyatt can see Jeanne. I also like Charleston because of all the history and it doesn’t feel like a beach town like Myrtle Beach. We had plans to camp in Pisgah on the way down but Tropical storm Lee dumped close to 6″ of rain locally over three days and we just didn’t want to sit inside a tent and endure that. However the weather changed on Tuesday and we decided to just head straight to the coast. On the way down I did swing through Brevard and with direction form Jeremy I rode the lower portion of Black Mtn. He knows how I like my trails and knew I would like the rawness of the trail. He was right. The climb was brutal right at the start of my 6″, heavy bike, but the descent was totally worth it. Some of the roots were sticking out of the ground 6 inches.

While in Charleston we decided to fill our days with activities and stay busy since Jeanne would be working all day. The first day we toured the U.S.S Yorktown. The second day we did the SC Aquarium and the last day we did Fort Moultrie. I personally like all the history and always learn something new. Wyatt certainly liked the airplanes, the guns, and forts. Each of these where self-guided so it worked out extremely well.
On the way home, we stopped by Jeremy’s house near the SC/NC state line and stayed over Friday night. Jeremy and I did another ride in Pisgah on Saturday while Meghann, Crystal, Wyatt, Rowan, and Rory hung out on Jeremy’s pumptrack. I do need to say that Jeremy’s track is the best personal track I have been on. It flowed great and had an S-turn which I am extremely jealous of. Wyatt and Rowan got along like peas and carrots. I was glad we got to stop by.
