Expanding the Shop
I have recently wanted to expand the shop. Now that Wyatt is riding a lot and is beginning to work on his bikes we really could benefit from having two bike stands and just more room. For years my buddy’s and I have hung out in the shop late into the evenings and it really gets crowded with more than 2-3 guys.
First, the space behind the shop would need to be concreted. Luckily my buddy Travis had a mixer which made the task pretty easy. I have never really poured concrete and the thought of hand mixing 50, 80lb bags in a wheelbarrow was daunting. I figured it would be easier, logistically, to split up the pour over two days. So, with clear weather and the family in spring break I took to vacation days to tackle the job. Meghann and to a lesser extent the boys were a huge help.
Day 2 went a little easier and quicker. I probably could have added one more bag to make it more level and I definitely could have made it smoother, but for our first experience it’s not too bad. All in, it was around a $240 job.
Day 3 was adding insulation, constructing a wall, and redoing a bit of wiring.
The clothes dresser is in temporary storage here. But the plan is to add a fridge, second bike stand and perhaps some sort of couch or bench.
Rory ready to lay the insulation.
