Drove down to Leeds, AL to Jeff’s house Friday after work. Saturday morning we couldn’t sleep we were so excited. By 9 we were on the road to Maplesville. There is a private club called Perry Mtn Motorcycle Club who runs a few national level events and has a reputation for great events and even better trails. I was not dissapointed. Being from Ole’ Rocky Top I ride mostly rock and hardpacked dirt. The only time I get great dirt is at events were enough riders keep the soil fluffed up. Perry’s soil had a high sand content. In the dry it was loose and dusty. In the trees it was moist and perfect. You could brake drag into turns and power throttle out. It was a great experience. Jeff and I did two laps on the 10 mile course before Karl showed up around lunch. Together we got another lap on the long and two on the 4 mile course. The first day ended with a 38 mile total. Saturday night we cooked some moose steaks and peach cobbler and went to bed very satisfied. Sunday we got up early, banged out another 2 long laps and 2 more short laps. By the time lunch rolled around I was completely whooped.
