XC riding is dangerous
Jul 31
So I go all weekend racing DH and come home with a few scraps. Then I got to Norris to do a little XC ride and this happens…

Snowshoe #2
Jul 31
So I finished 9th in last year’s series, 8th in 2006 and 8th again in 2007. I seem to be slipping. Its interesting. I feel “faster” in section but I just haven’t been able to be pinned for an entire run. Part of that is burn out. Its hard to go to Windrock and not just enjoy myself riding with buddies. Its been hard to find the motivation to train doing full runs. It gets boring and hurts. So anyway Friday and Saturday before the race on Sunday were some of the best riding days I’ve ever had at Snowshoe. However I didn’t do a full run until my race run, so needless to say I wasn’t ready and made a lot of little mistakes that added up to a lot of time. I had a flat last year on this same race course and got 11th, just what I got this year as well. Hmmmmm? Makes you think about everything that happens on a 5 minute race course.
Had a great time hanging with Joey Bag of Doughnuts, Ziska, Kenan and B Thug.
Here are a few of our crew during Saturday’s practice which was sunny and dry.

Then on race day it looked like this…

I like this series…

A little rock nap perhaps…

Canada Eh?
Jul 17
So this week I traveled to Edmonton, Canada for business. For a large city, it was nice. Not like the spread out filth of most American suburbia. Any who, Edmonton was definitely the farthest north I have ever been. The highs for July are regularly in the low 70s. Can you believe that?
Before I left, I tried this out on the Mbuzi.

It was much more technical than I anticipated. I know of only a few that would like to try it.
4th of July
Jul 6
Up until Saturday, the 4th of July, I had ridden 7 straight days.
Saturday – Beech Mtn DH practice
Sunday – Beech Mtn DH race
Monday – Haw Ridge with Devn and a few of his buddies
Tuesday – Haw Ridge with Damaya
Wednesday – Weed-eat and tree removal at Windrock followed by some runs with Jeff, Brian, Thomas, and other
Thursday – moto trails with ben and Devin
Friday – BSF Grand Gap loop x2 with Jeff
So by Saturday we had plans for Meg and I to ride some moto in Brimstone while my family watch Wyatt. However by Saturday morning I was beat. I started to work on removing the duck blind from the boat and after awhile figured we could just go out on the boat instead. However first we needed some fireworks. We usually don’t do fireworks but with Wyatt now old enough to interact with us I thought we could see if he liked fireworks.
This is what $50 of fireworks looks like.

Wyatt loves the boat. I think more so because he can drive. But we ended up the day cooking out, having our own fireworks show followed by the fireworks at Pellissippi State College. It was a really good relaxing day. I really enjoyed it.
