Time > Money

Well. I have been back to “work” full time for about a month now and its been tough. I had gotten into a routine of work-work and life-work while I was part-time working for myself. I got crap done. Now that I work for the man again, I can’t find time to take the garbage to the dump. I think the lack of after work light make things worse, but never-the-less I don’t like it. But I got a few laps in on the pump track last night with my headlamp and I felt better.

The last week I have spent every sun lit hour after work on the bobcat at Bigfoot. Usually from 4:30 till 6ish moving dirt. We got 9 tandem truck loads of dirt brought in for more jumps. The main jump line has been fun, but we need some new stuff to play on. LOO spent 2 days last week clearing brush and prepping the site. Without that, we would be way behind. So thanks.

Duck season starts this Saturday and I am torn on what to do. I told myself last year that I would not hunt in fair and 50+ degree weather. Way too many days wasted just sitting around wishing there were ducks. The forecast for this weekend is just that. I have talked with Curt and we are supposed to go this Saturday and Sunday, but I am really wanting to back out on Saturday. I really need to get some stuff done around the house and then spend most of the day at Bigfoot. Then at 4:00 UT plays LSU for the SEC championship. I have gotten back in touch with Jon Huber from grad school and have made plans to watch the game at his place. Looking forward to that. Yeah, I think I’m going to cancel hunting on Saturday.

Dad is returning from Colorado where he got a cow elk and a mule deer. We are still eating meat from last year’s deer and elk, so we better start eating more.

-Starting Shit
-Burnt Bridge
-EC reenactment by Loo in the WR parking lot
-Sidehill to Twisted in the wet leaves

Week Wrap-up

Wow. What an awesome week this has been. It started last Sunday when Stan and Klara came into town and rode Windrock. Then Sunday night Meghann and I went to see the Kings of Leon at the Tennessee Theater. The Kings were great and I’d see them again, but the opening acts were weak.

Since this was my last week before I start work full-time at Advion, I took it light at work to tie up all my loose ends and of course to ride my bike. Monday Stan, Klara and I played around the house and played on the pump track.

Stan says, ‘I crush you!

Then Tuesday we rode Haw Ridge.

Tuesday night we had a bon-fire and Klara played around with long exposures on her camera and came up with some really awesome photos.

Wednesday was Halloween and I had some fun. This guy was spotted in my place at work and at a luncheon seminar, then later at Windrock.

Later in the afternoon we had another session at Windrock with Stan, Klara, Terry and myself. Terry is awesome to ride with and as usual we rode Southern Rocks together. Terry took a good spill and blew a HUGE hole in his Totem fork.

Thursday we met up with Brian Poston and rode Lone Mtn. As usual it kicked all our butts.

Friday was pretty slow. Stan and Klara took off for more adventures at Tanasi and Carter’s Lake. It was really good to see them again. I really enjoyed riding and hanging with them. I hope to see them again.

Saturday was another Windrock session with Yens, Mark Webb, Josh, and 2 new faces Joey and Bryceland (sp?). These guys are new to the local crew, but its so good to see new blood on the rocks.

Saturday night I got an invite to attend a Alleycat beer run race at Haw Ridge bu the Harper’s Bike Shop guys. It was supposed to start at 9:00pm, but after a few cold beers we got underway around 10:30pm. We teamed up in groups of two to race to 4 stations buried deep in the woods at Haw. At each station we had to accomplish some tomfoolery and beer chugging. The race went like this:

-Mass running start, chug a beer, get on you bike, make a lap around the field at the LDC and then get your map.

-We could get to the points in any order, so my partner, Sam (aka naked biking guy), and I headed off for 5 points. There we met Ramsbottom who had us chug a beer then do 25 situps and 25 pushups. Then Sam had to run down in the woods to find a small stuff ram. After returning, I took it back.

-Next we the top of V-Trail. There we found instructions to got to a new location. There we had to chug another beer and then take turns riding our bikes blind folded.

-From there we headed off to the top of K2. Once there we had to take off our shirts and lay down hill and roll around in the dirt while drinking yet another beer. Then we had to return to the LDC and get something to bring back to K2.

-At the LDC we were given a penny. Then returned all the way back up to K2. After that we descended all the way to East Shore to bunny hop a brake-less 20″ BMX bike over a 16oz Miller High Life. Followed by funneling another beer through a handlebar.

-Then we raced back to the win at the LDC.

It was an awesome time and I can’t wait until the next one.
