Let the riding begin.

Well, the pump track is done enough to ride it and its so much fun. I need a few more rollers at the high point in the track to help you keep your momentum, but its still loads of fun. It’s even more fun when your with friends, playing hooky from work and drinking PBR at noon on a Monday.

Windrock Berm

This Sunday was the first time I rode a bike in 7 days. Since my crash in AlaBAM, I took it easy and worked on my pump track to let my sore collarbone heal up. But after a good 3-4 days of rain this week, Windrock was calling. Stan and Klara are passing through town on their way back to home and wanted to ride some.

The crew at Windrock was really good; Matt Wiz, Terry J, Mark Webb, Brian Poston, Yens, James “STFD”, Stan, Klara and myself.

Here are some shots in the new berm above Trail 14.

Tennessee vs. Alabama

This weekend Meghann and I traveled to B-Ham, Alabama to see Karl and Jeff in their natural habitat. James, “STFD”, from M-town was in town on business, so he packed his bikes and join in the fun too. We rode Jeff’s pump track and did a little Urban ride Friday night. Riding in B-Ham late at night gives a new meaning to “Urban”. But we had an awesome time and found some cool and fun features.

Saturday morning we woke up early and did a small ride at a local trail network close to Jeff’s place. Karl wrecked 5 feet into the trail and created a huge boo-boo on his left knee. Later in the ride he would add one to the right knee. It was fun to see these guys showing off their home trails for once.

After the ride we settled in to watch UT play Bama and what a disappointment that was for Vols fans. Bama 41 – Tenn 17. Weak.

We partied pretty good at Karl’s. We met Karl’s wife, Spaceman, and Karl’s brother Glen. Oh yeah James tried poison Karl with chewy chicken, aka shrimp.

Sunday morning we got up and rode Oak Mtn. It was cool place with varied terrain. Karl was killing it on his SS (yep he’s a geek) and Brazwell rides just as much on the edge while XC riding as he does DHing. Its aways a good show. I wahed out in a flat turn and went down pretty good. Nothing too bad, but moments later I felt a pop in my collarbone while I was pulling for a small gap. I took it easy the rest of the ride, but who knows what I have done in there. I’ll take it easy and stay of the bike the rest of the week and see how I feel in a couple of days.

Clemson Rd. 2

I had grand plans to get back to Snowshoe this past weekend for their last weekend of operation, but things fell through and I couldn’t make it happen. So I headed over to Clemson for their 2nd DH. The course was the same, so things were still fun, but I have to admit I wasn’t in the mood to race. I went out with Geritt the night before. We drank too much and stayed out too late to be in tip, top racing shape but I finished second and won $50. Hind sight I just wasn’t very aggressive on the track, but I good time and got to hang out with friends, so it was a great weekend.

2007 Meth Mouth Festival

Three years ago, myself, Loo, Bloch, Jeff, Karl, and Wyatt got together in the fall to ride Windrock. We had more fun that anyone has ever had before and for notorious reasons the occasion was dubbed as the Meth Mouth Festival. Skip ahead to last Thursday night.

Loo, Scuba, and Matt traveled from New Orleans to my place last Thursday with hopes to ride Windrock over a 3 day weekend. Needless to say the tomfoolery started right away.

We got in some good riding on some near perfect dirt conditions at Windrock. Matt had never ridden any other bike other than his dirt jump bike, so DHing at Windrock is a HUGE step. He did awesome and has some natural talent. I look forward to seeing him again. Scuba Steve was hoping to ride his new Turner Highline but unfortunately crashed and injured his left knee on his first run. Luckily the Meth Festival is much more than riding, so Scuba had plenty to look forward to. And of course I always consider it a banner day when I get to spend it with Loo. My first and bestest E-friend. Matt Wiz joined us late in the day for some shuttles as well. Too bad he could stay all weekend.

Friday night the rest of the crew started to filter in: Geritt, Ziska, Karl, Jeff, Wyatt, and Bloch.

Good times.

Porn star cameo.

Saturday and riding came early. The riding was great. It was so awesome to have such a large crew to ride and hang with. Most of the time its the same handful of locals on the trails. So I was super stoked to have so many rippers and pinners riding the trails in huge groups.

After riding we adjourned to my house for some football, beer and shananagens. I can’t really explain the actions in the following pictures, but all I know is I have some of the best friends anyone could ask for.

I can’t say too much on such a public site about the late evening festivities, but needless to say we had a dam good time.

Here Geritt tries to disprove the talent of a well known East Tennessee entertainer whom the event is named after. The majority of the party goers still say its natural talent.

Interesting story is that Wyatt got a life-time ban from Windrock by ET, Windrock’s local sheriff for horseplay on a pit-bike in the gravel parking lot. So he had to play the outlaw and hide from the law. Hence the disguise.

In summary, no one got too injured and we are already planning next year’s festivity. See you fellas in a couple of weeks.
