A couple weeks ago, we did a day hike up Devils Racetrack in Campbell County. The trail is right along I75 and its large rock formations are easily visible from the interstate. The hike was about 3 miles total and I think the boys enjoyed themselves well playing and enjoying the outdoors.

Weekend at Home
Dec 10
The fort is almost finished and the boys love it. Just a few more boards and some windows
Did a sweet ride Saturday on the moto. 33 miles and the details are on my Everytrail profile. But I snapped these going over Walden. I liked the light coming thru the clouds and it looks like the fire was bigger than I thought.
Wyatt the Photog

Curt and Susan invited us over for dinner the other night and Wyatt ended up with my phone and took some pictures.
Mini Beach Vacation
Nov 7
Its kind of a tradition for us to head to the beach in the Fall. Its less crowded, everything is cheaper, and its a good escape. As usual we head to Charleston. My sister lives there, its pretty close, has lots of history, and the food is pretty darn good. We tried to break the driving up as much as possible with stops to get out and play. We also moved Wyatt to the 3rd row, which give him his own zone and allows Meghann to sit with Rory and keep him occupied. I think it worked really well. Even though the 80 gets bad fuel economy, has mud tires, and a 3″ lift, it still makes a pretty good family vehicle and is very comfortable to travel in.
I made plans to ride the Wambah cycle trail again. I rode it back in the summer and it was a blast. Petty much the same this time as well. Fortunately this time both loops were open, which allowed me to get in a total of 44 miles. I added the South Loop to my Everytrail profile. Unfortunately they had “groomed” the trails and I thought it was worse. While there were no whoops, there was also no developed edge and it was harder to find an edge to corner on. Personally I like the whoops.
It was chilly and of course too cold to get in the water, but we did spend a little time on the beach each day. We also went to a few playgrounds and the Lowcountry Kids Museum. The biggest bummer was that most things were closed on Mondays and we missed the Birds of Prey Exhibit, H.L. Hunley Submarine, and the Sewee Visitors Center. While Meghann and Rory took a nap, Wyatt and I did a little offroading in the Francis Marion National Forest, saw a few wood ducks, and did a small hike in a swamp.
Vacations are getting a little better with kids. We have to slow it down and pick only a few things to accomplish per day. We need to get better at planning meals. An adult can adjust when they eat, but when a kid is hungry, there better be food near by.
